Zanthoxylum Oil


Zanthoxylum is obtained through the steam distillation of dried fruits of Zanthoxylum armatum DC. This plant is a shrub or a small tree, 6 meter tall or more, with dense foliage, found in the hot valleys of the Himalayas at altitudes of 1,000 t0 2100 m. The dried fruits collected from the wild or cultivated fields, are dried before steam distillation, yielding an essential oil (c. 22.3%).
